The Institute for Cardiovascular Prevention (IPEK) bridges clinical care and state-of-the-art research. Led by its Director and Chair in Vascular Medicine Prof. Dr. Christian Weber, IPEK provides a home base for 26 principal investigators across diverse fields, technologies and facilities, as well as for major research consortia, such as the DFG-funded CRC1123 'Atherosclerosis' and the DZHK partner site Munich Heart Alliance, each chaired by Prof. Weber as the Spokesperson. It also hosts the August-Lenz-Foundation with its research outpatient clinic and the Editorial Office of the journal Thrombosis & Haemostasis.
