They also established rigorous inclusion criteria, evaluating each scientist's  work contributed to the respective field of research, and any notable awards or prestigious fellowships received. Germany also successfully defends its 3rd place ranking for the countries with the highest number of leading medicine scientists behind the United States and the United Kingdom.
